Culture Day

Filipino-Singaporean Culture Exchange featuring an immersive cultural experience of Singapore's 4 main races.

To wrap up the end of our program, we held Culture Day on our last day at Alao Elementary School to allow the students to learn more about Singapore's 4 main races (Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian).


We set up 4 stations for the 4 races to give the students an immersive and educational experience. Check out our program itinerary!


Chinese Booth:

  • Lion Dance performance

  • The significance of Lion Dance in Chinese culture

  • Story of Nian

  • Game of childhood game - Lao Ying Zhua Xiao Ji (Eagle and Chicks)


Malay Booth:

  • Satay making lesson

  • The significance of food in Malay culture


Indian Booth:

  • The history and benefits of Yoga

  • Yoga poses

  • Breathing exercises

  • Meditation techniques


Eurasian Booth:

  • Singaporean childhood games (Chapteh, Fivestones, Pepsi-Cola 1 2 3, Freeze&Melt)


Performance:

  • Tribal dance by village tribe and students of Alao Elementary

  • Sang Nila Utama play - the founding and history of Singpore

  • Dance

  • Singing
