About Project Luminaire

Project Luminaire is a student-led overseas community service project (OCSP) initiated by students of SMU. With a mission to empower light-impoverished communities in the Philippines, we collaborate with Litre of Light to install solar-powered lights to bring sustainable lighting solutions. Our team is made up of passionate volunteers who are committed to making a difference in the world. We believe that everyone should have access to basic necessities like light and our goal is to make that a reality for communities in need.

Our
Journey

Our journey began back in 2012 and ten iterations later, Project Luminaire continues to bring sustainable lighting and basic education to those who need it most in the Philippines.

What We Do
Solar Light Installations

With a mission to empower light-impoverished communities in the Philippines, we collaborate with Litre of Light to install solar-powered lights to bring sustainable lighting solutions to the communities we visit.

Education

We believe that education is the key to long-term sustainable change. As part of our mission, we also provide educational lessons to the village schools to inspire and empower. Our lesson plans are tailored to meet the specific needs of the communities we visit.

How Does It Work?

Project Luminaire collaborates with Litre of Light to bring sustainable lighting solutions to light-impoverished communities in the Philippines. We work with local communities and partner schools to identify areas that need lighting solutions the most. Our team of student volunteers then installs solar-powered lights in these areas, bringing light to those who need it the most.
