When I first heard about Project Luminaire, I was immediately drawn in. As someone with a strong passion for sustainability and using tech to help improve the day-to-day

lives of others, I knew this was a project that I had to be a part of.

It was eye-opening to see how different the living conditions were compared to what I’m used to Singapore. As we installed the lights in the various communities, it was

heartening to see the gratitude from the villagers, and it filled me with joy knowing that I was able to have a tangible impact on the community.

From the first day we arrived in Zambales, I was touched by the hospitality and warmth shown to us by the students and teachers of Alao Elementary School. Once we started the teaching portion of our trip, it was clear to see how passionate the students were about learning from us. They were full of energy and always eager to spend time with us, giving us gifts made from flowers and pieces of nature. 

One of my favourite parts of the trip was the feeding programme. It was incredibly heartwarming to see the children happily enjoying the food we had prepared for them, and I loved that we were also able to share a taste of our local culture through the dishes we served.

Looking back, I will never forget the moments and connections formed throughout the trip. Just as I hold these memories close to my heart, I hope that our time there

also left a lasting and meaningful impact on the community.
