I’ve gone on overseas community service trips before but never to the Philippines. I was motivated to volunteer with PL12 as it was a great opportunity for me to reach out to a new community. Amongst all the experiences in Zambales, I enjoyed the feeding programme the most. It was a new and enjoyable experience cooking for over a 100 people in an outdoor setting. Through the installation of solar lights in villages and teaching at Alao Elementary School, I believe our contribution improved the quality of life of the communities. Volunteering with PL12 has also positively impacted me as I found joy in the simple things in life.
