Mitch Lim

I volunteered with Project Luminaire because I believed that I could make a lasting impact by lighting up the light impoverished areas of Philippines as well as teaching the students basic education like English and basic Math. The experience was difficult and the living conditions were not easy. However, the best thing I enjoyed about the experience was the friendships I made along this journey - towards my peers and towards the community in Alao Elementary School. I’m not arrogant enough to say that my contribution have made a life long impact on the community in Zambales. However, I can say for certain, that in those two weeks that I was there, i definitely made an impact. Volunteering with Project Luminaire helped me gain insights on the unspoken areas of the world. It made me more empathetic to people from all walks of life and it gave me a huge dose of humility.
