Personally, I was very drawn to this project because of its focus on light impoverished communities. Through my studies, I gained understanding on how access to proper lighting is crucial for creating and fostering safe and productive environments. This knowledge inspired me to join this project as it directly addressed this need thus it was a meaningful way for me to contribute to improving lives in a tangible way beyond the local scale.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my experience was the opportunity to teach as I have a strong passion for education and genuinely enjoy working with children thus my time at Alao Elementary School was deeply enriching as it allowed me to engage closely and meaningfully with the energetic students. It was a privilege to contribute to their learning while also gaining insight into their way of life.
Overall, my volunteer experience was one filled with joy, self growth and fulfillment as I was able to witness firsthand the positive impact of our efforts and it taught me many valuable lessons like independence, cross-cultural understanding and the power of small efforts to create meaningful change.
