I really wanted to join Project Luminaire because I saw videos online about Litre of Light and how they were helping communities all around the world by installing lights for children to study at night. I think the ability to have light at night is an absolute privilege and I think it is something which is very vital to the empowerment and growth of communities.

What I really enjoyed about this trip was that It was an opportunity to put yourself in a difficult situation and to bring about goodness to other communities whilst learning about yourself. Theres are many opportunities to learn empathy and compassion and how you respond to different situations.

I don't think the difference that we made were systemic, but I don't think just because somthing is not systemic - that it detracts from the meaning of the activity. We definitely did help the children and teach them and installed lights for them in the short term.

This project has taught me a lot about myself and my shortcomings and has inspired me to be intentional in how I approach things moving forward.
