Alcantara Jillian Chloe Peregrino

It was a long awaited opportunity for me to be a part of this project that not only engages with children through fun class activities, immerses in a feeding programme for these kids, but also sets up solar lights for the impoverished neighbourhoods in Zambales. And from Day 1, the experience was nothing short to incredible - seeing all of those smiles and feeling every second of the tightest hugs they gifted; the wait, planning, and dedication we have all put into this project proved to be worth it. We had gone there to serve, but I am certain we received back more than we have given them. I am glad I was able to use my fluency in the language the community speaks to be an avenue for them to express their needs for us to devise solutions not only during our time there, but for the long run. Every “thank you” they expressed reassured me that I was fulfilling my mission to serve.

Every single day engaging with the community of Zambales holds a significant fragment to this extraordinary experience, of which I will forever be grateful for.
